About Mallorca

There are only a handful of places in the world that offer a spectacular combination of stunning beaches, captivating landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and delicious food, and one such place is Mallorca. Mallorca, or Majorca, is one of the largest of four Balearic Islands located off the East coast of Spain. What makes Mallorca an ideal destination is its proximity to major capitals such as Rome, Berlin, Paris, and London. These cities are only a two-hour flight away from Mallorca.

The capital of Mallorca, Palma, is a vibrant city that is full of museums, galleries, boutique hotels, restaurants, an old town and much more. Tourism in Mallorca was started in the 1960s, typically as a beach destination welcoming people in the summer season. However, over the years, tourism has grown a lot in Mallorca, and now, it draws people all year round, whether it’s summer, spring, or autumn season. The island also attracts corporate tourists, trade fairs, and commercial exhibitions, thanks to its newly built Palacio de Congresos (Congress Centre). Throughout the year, the island hosts many concerts and local festivals where you can witness the blend of their religion, traditions, music, and food.

Can we miss cuisine when talking about Mallorca? Certainly NOT! Mallorca offers delicious Mediterranean flavors like nowhere else in the world. From the famous 5-star restaurants to the fresh catches on the coastal side, you’ll truly enjoy the food no matter where you choose to go here. All of the cuisine that you will try here will be entirely made with home-grown items such as fruits and vegetables and locally raised pork. Almonds, aubergines, oranges, olives, tomatoes, persimmons, pomegranates, and many other fruits and vegetables are grown across the island. The coastal side too, offers many bounties, including mussels, prawns, squid, cuttlefish, and many more fresh catches.

Thanks to the flourishing tourism industry, getting around Mallorca has become easy. There are three train lines and a metro bus service operating within the city of Palma. You can also rent a car or a bike and explore the island by yourself. Ask your hotel; they might offer you a bike rental as well. To travel within cities, renting a car or getting on a train is the best and most affordable option.

Mallorca offers a beautiful climate all year round. But if you just want to indulge yourself in the ocean, then plan your visit during the summer season from May to October. For short breaks, you can visit Palma all year round. The Winter season, from December to February, is mild but ideal for activities such as climbing, hiking, sailing, and touring historical landmarks on foot, which is rather challenging in summer.
